Hey! Gosh its cold out. Just saying. My hair keeps freezing when I walk to school in the morning. Well, to be on topic, I’ve finally finished my screenplay for my next film, The Boy Who Burned All the Dictionaries. Its going to be a long process, so I hope to get a start on it soon. Its a kind of complicated process, but it is kind of what it sounds like. I wanted to explore a new type of film, so I’m straying away from the dark comedy and moving into a light, yet mysterious tale about the incineration of a collection of dictionaries, an emotionless suspect, and the disconnected world of a young girl. Check back for more updates, but for now I’m revising the script to ensure that it is the best that it can be.
Right now I’m also working on a virtual tour of the station. I think it will be really neat for people to go to the website and be able to get an interesting view of what we here at Westborough TV have to offer.
So long for now!

Hi there!
I am Miriam and I am a student at Ithaca College claim residency in Westborough. I am home on winter break and to keep my self occupied and my bank account out of the red I am working here at Westborough TV. I worked here last year for a few months in lieu of going to high school through the Quest program at Westborough High School. Donna was gracious enough to let me come back for a wee bit as long as I promised to keep my area clean. I am not messy per se, just cluttered to the point of chaos. So I have been trying to keep the mess to a minimum but right now Donna is on vacation and I have regressed a little into my former habits. Tomorrow’s schedule will include Extreme Makeover Editing Suite Edition. Of course, there will be destruction, melodramatic speeches, blatant product placement, and finally a pristine desk.
To occupy my month long break I am working on a series of episodes about winter activities in and around Westborough. Through my work on this I have seen aspects of Westborough I didn’t even know existed. Who knew there were so many trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing in Westborough? Not this transplant. Yes, you heard correctly, I am not a Westborough native. I moved to the 100th Town right before freshmen year of high school from Bangor, Maine where winter sports are practically a religion. Literally. My former synagogue is doing some of their services at Sugarloaf Ski Mountain. That kind of dedication to the season is my inspiration for this winter activity series. I am well aware that there is a fairly large contingent who, even in our beloved New England, dread the snowy months. Aside from telling these people that they are living in the wrong place I want to show a sampling of all the amazing things there are to do during this glorious time. I say a sampling because let’s face it, Central Massachusetts has so much to offer that we could be here for weeks discussing it. While I would love to do that, I must eventually return to my overpriced education.
In two weeks I will be making the 5+ hour trek back to Ithaca where I will not be doing television, but rather learning to draft, use power tools, and design sound systems as a part of my Theatrical Production Arts degree. [This is the shameless plug where I prove that anyone and everyone in Westborough can and is welcome to learn how to use a camera and how to edit here are Westborough TV.] Rest assured that I will find time to don my snow pants and long underwear for some quality snow ball fights and sledding.
Stay warm and good luck with your snow blowers!

Hurray for the “Between Week”
This is the week each year that seems to defy all conventions. It’s okay to eat cookies for breakfast (lunch and dinner, too) because they need to be gone by next week. For that matter, eating anything and everything at any time is fine, too, because the refrigerator is busting with leftovers and so many of the treats are ‘once-a-year-favorites’.
Schedules take a big hit this week as well. Many people are vacationing and others are on plant shutdown. The older kids are home from college and local schools are closed as well, but begin and end differently. Store hours are extended early in the week, but then are cut back quickly later on. When does one holiday begin and another end?
Lots of activities are added this week to take advantage of many being back in town and available. There are more sporting events to attend and some are only this week. Concerts and community events only for this season or a particular day abound. Parties seem to be planned around the clock; a brunch at a friend’s home followed by dinner with the in-laws and then a movie with the kids is common.
This is the week to catch up, use up and get out. Rules are thrown out and new ones created. There is no time for planning and reflection this week – that will come next week. It’s a good thing that this “Between Week” happens just once a year and is followed by a new year. Living on overload on so many levels leaves us welcome to return to normal.
But, until 2010, there are some molasses cookies calling my name.

Westborough TV Holiday Party
Take a minute and breathe. Look around and enjoy the lights. Have a drink with friends. Eat cookies. Hug someone you love. Let someone go ahead of you in traffic. Sing along to the music. Wear a weird hat. Give thanks. Watch some great winter concerts and events on Westborough TV!
Happy Holidays!

So much to do! Right now I’m quite busy with the trip movie. There is almost 8 hours of footage t go through. AHHHH. It is going to be a collage of the chorus’s trip to Ithica college to sing. Judging by some of the tapes that I have already begun to look at there is some real potential for a killer video! We had a little incident with the audio for some of the performances but it isn’t anything that we can’t work around. It will be shown at intermission at the chorus concert on December 22 so don’t miss it

Thanksgiving Day is a day reserved for reflecting on what we are thankful for and to recognize the things we may take for granted. I believe we, as Americans, have much to be thankful for as we observe parts of the world struggle. Even as we are mired deep in economic chaos, we still must take time to realize how fortunate we really are. Let us give Thanks for what we have but more importantly, we need to be Thankful for what we can achieve here in the United States.
One thing I am Thankful for this year in addition to my family and my health is a working server here at Westborough TV so we may get to the business of BROADCASTING. Yeah, we’ve been down for a while but Westborough TV is BACK. The newly upgraded server will ensure we remain operational so you may enjoy all the great programming your friends and neighbors are creating right here in Westborough.
Oh, btw… All weekend long we’ll be playing great moments in Westborough sports as we replay some of the past thrashing our WHS sports teams heve dealt to the Algonquin Tomahawks over the past 51 years. Konk Algonk…

I am thankful for all the men and women, young and old who have fought to make this country what it is today. Thank you for your service and Thank you to all of those who are still fighting to protect our freedom. Come back safely and thank you for doing what you are doing.
Today we have dedicated our programming to Veterans who have served and are currently serving. Enjoy the programming and if you see a Veteran today, stop and thank them for all that they have done.

I just returned from taping moments from a Veterans’ Breakfast hosted by the Willows. Having never been in the military myself, I was humbled to be in the presence of so many who have served their country. The memories of the experiences these men and women have of America’s past battles make for compelling stories that are truly priceless. To speak with a soldier from World War II (or ANY conflict, past or present) and hear first hand of thier experiences is like a glimpse into what America is really about. Westborough TV recognizes these stories as important and entertaining TV. To say we can never give these men and women enough airtime on television is truly an understatement.

Westborough TV is all about showcasing the talent that exists in our town. One of the best places to find this talent is at Westborough’s school productions. Last night’s Choral Concert at the High School was a perfect example. Westborough TV was there with no less than five cameras on the action and Cam Milewski at the helm directing. For those of you who didn’t see the show, worry not. Westborough TV (mainly Cam) is editing the two productions into one awesome show as I type this. Plan on being amazed by the talent of our town’s music students as well as the production quality of the show Westborough TV will be airing later this week.

Are you ready for Town Meeting time again in Westborough? On Monday, Westborough High School becomes ground zero for local politics and Westborough TV will be there broadcasting LIVE. We’ll be there Monday morning wiring the high school auditorium, setting up cameras and taking over the control room as we prepare to bring the meeting into your home.
Town Meeting is the purest form of political interaction. Our town’s citizens gather together, discuss important issues and then vote on the spot. When you stop to consider this process and the whole of the democratic system, it is unbelievable that other countries in the world are denied this privilege.
Being the free nation that we are, it is important to remember how we got that freedom. We as citizens must recognize, appreciate and participate in the process that allows us to continue being a free nation. Westborough TV is proud to be a part of this process by providing broadcast coverage of the Town Meeting and all the other government meetings that help shape our community.
